What to expect from independent providers

Who You Talk To

Nonencouraged Garage Doors doesn't have a crew you will meet at your door. When you reach out, your request goes to an independent garage door provider in the network. That provider is a separate business. They talk with you, visit your home and do the work.

What They Will Ask You

Expect a few simple questions. Have the answers ready.

  • What is the door doing? Stuck, loud, crooked, or stopped halfway?
  • Did you hear a bang before it failed?
  • Is the door wood, steel or something else?
  • How old are the door and the opener?
  • Is a car trapped inside?

A photo of the tracks, springs or opener can help. Take it from a safe distance. Never stand under a door that is partly open.

Questions Worth Asking a Provider

A good provider won't mind questions. Try these:

  • Can you quote repair and replacement so I can compare?
  • Is the spring, track alignment and labor included in that number?
  • What parts will you use, and what is the warranty on them?
  • Do you handle a new garage door opener, and does it include setup?
  • Is there a separate charge for emergency garage service outside normal hours?

Read the Quote

Written quote first. Check that it names the work, the parts and the total. Costs vary by job and by season, so don't be shy about asking why a number is higher than you expected.

The Decision Is Yours

You can say no. You can ask another provider for a second quote. Nonencouraged Garage Doors doesn't push you toward a repair or a replacement. We only make the introduction.
